Welcome to AvesPR.org
This website is intended to be a community of ornithologists, bird watchers, managers, eco-tourists and other people interested in the birds of Puerto Rico.
Our mission is to build an interorganizational community with information of the Puerto Rican birds to enhance the scientific research and bird watching activities in the island. We hope that this community and its activities can be used to effectively aid in the conservation of these species.
Our main objective is to provide a system with information of all the bird species of Puerto Rico. This system includes data from the literature and provided by the users, like:
- Scientific name and common names
- Status of each species in the island
- Abundance
- Food items
- Habitat
- Pictures
- Sound recordings
AvesPR has 809 photographs and 14 sounds of the birds of Puerto Rico.
For sighting reports, please visit e-Bird Puerto Rico, a colaborative project from the Cornell Lab of Ornitology, the Fideicomiso de Conservación and the Sociedad Ornitológica Puertorriqueña.
In this new version of AvesPR.org, the users can edit the data as well as provide new information of each species.
